Eternal Security and Assurance of the Believer

Eternal Security - The truth that the born-again believer with his/her salvation is eternally secure in Christ. All who are born again possess this. Since salvation depends on no work of man, no work of man can either gain it or lose it.

Assurance - Though all who are truly born-again ( not every believer, since there are many who believe for a while and then fall way ) have Eternal Security not many know it and have an assurance of it. False teachings have been in the church stealing assurance and the joy of salvation. let us look at the scriptures that assure us of Eternal Security.

Let us study the scriptures that guarantee us eternal security and assurance in Christ. ( Click on the references and orange words to read different versions of the verses and study them in depth )

Q1. Will I be saved? I have come to Jesus to be saved from the wrath to come and to be saved from my sin? Will Jesus save me? What if I am not an elect?

John 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

John 6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.

A1. The word draws in the first verse means to "draw, drag off, to draw by inward power, lead, impel". Whether you recognize it or not the reason you have come to Jesus to save you from your sins is because the Father has drawn you. The Father does not draw the unelect to Christ for salvation. In the second verse, the word never is a double negative strengthening the denial. It means "never never, in no wise, by no means, not ever, in no case. You can be sure Jesus will save you!

Q2. I have come to Jesus to be saved. I believe Jesus will save me. What must I do now to be saved?

Romans 11:5-6 So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace. 6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

Romans 3:20 For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.

Romans 3:27-28 Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.

Romans 4:2 If his good deeds had made him acceptable to God, he would have had something to boast about. But that was not God's way.

Romans 4:4 When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned.

Romans 4:6 David also spoke of this when he described the happiness of those who are declared righteous without working for it:

Romans 9:11 Though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls—

Romans 9:31-32 But the people of Israel, who tried so hard to get right with God by keeping the law, never succeeded. 32 Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law[a] instead of by trusting in him. They stumbled over the great rock in their path.

John 6:28-29 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Phillipians 2:13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

A2. You need to do NOTHING! You can do nothing! If you try to do something to obtain salvation you will stumble and fall like Israel because God has designed Salvation to be given as a gift. If you do the slightest work God will have to give salvation as a reward/wage for the work you did. Salvation is a gift so that no man can boast or take even the slightest credit for it. All work is done by God Himself. Even making you believe is a work done by God. Even the faith with which you believed is a gift from God and not something you produced understanding your weakness or sin. So now you are able to give ALL glory to God for your salvation :-)

Q3. How can it be by faith only when James Chapter 2 speaks of both Faith and Works required for salvation?

A3. Read James Chapter 2 carefully. It is not a chapter of "both faith and works". It is a chapter about two kinds of faith. A "living faith" that does good works and a "dead faith" that does no good work. The greatest faith we can muster up will be a dead faith which will not even enable us to come to Jesus and trust that he can and will save us. But the faith that God gives us is a living faith which will produce good works. The first good work that this living faith will produce is to make us believe that Jesus can and will forgive our sins and save us from them and make us come to Him for salvation. It will proceed to produce the righteousness of God in us. It will give us faith in the goodness and character of God and make us repent and to turn back to God for forgiveness even if we do sin "seventy times seven" ( a great number ) and it will still make us trust God and approach Him to deliver us from it. It will also enable us to increasingly produce good works. Even if our change is slow we can trust the living faith that God has given us that it will produce good works not by our strength but His because God is good and cannot lie.

Matthew 18:21-22 Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone[a]who sins against me? Seven times?” 22 “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven![b]

Q4. I know I am born-again but my sanctification/transformation is very slow. I fall into the same sin often. I am doing what I don't want to do. Can I have the comfort that I will make it to heaven and see the Lord?

A4. Welcome to the church! ( ekklēsia Mathew 16:18 ). There was a time the Apostle Paul talked like this ( Romans 7:14-25 ). You are a child in Christ and you need consolation comfort & assurance.

1 John 2:1 My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.

1 John 2:12 I am writing to you who are God’s children because your sins have been forgiven through Jesus.

1 John 1:9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

You need to study Hebrews 6.

Hebrews 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.

The word strong means ability, force, strength, might and the word consolation means consolation, comfort, solace; that which affords comfort or refreshment, exhortation, admonition, encouragement and much more.

The reason for you, who have fled to God for refuge in Christ, to experience strong comfort & consolation is said in the prior verse.

Hebrews 6:17 God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind.

This is a terrible thing for God to do because we find that in Mathew 5:33-37 Jesus asks us not to take oaths or make vows. One of the reason's for this is because if a person has to make a vow/oath it means that when he is not making a vow/oath he is less reliable or honest. God who cannot lie goes the whole way and binds himself with an oath to give us PERFECT ASSURANCE. He loves you so much, not only has He saved you but He wants you to have FULL ASSURANCE that you will reach heaven and see His face :-)

Hebrews 6:11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

Hebrews 10:22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

The 6th chapter of Hebrews is very interesting. It starts by describing a group of people who have heard the basic teachings of the scriptures (  Hebrews 6:1-3 ) and have experienced the Lord's goodness and power ( Hebrews 6:4-5 ) but still go back to the old ways and DO NOT proceed to experience "things that accompany salvation"

Such people put the Son of God to an open shame because when after knowing all that God has done for them through both teaching and demonstration if they go back without proceeding to salvation ( being born again ) and experiencing "things that accompany salvation" then what they are actually saying/testifying is that the Son of God ( Jesus Christ ) did not die on the cross to save them from their sin but because God punished him because of His own sin.

Such people are described as "tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come" ( Hebrews 6:5 ). The primary meaning of "taste ( geuomai )"is to try the flavour of, perceive the flavour of, partake of, enjoy, to feel, make trial of, experience.

According to Jesus's teaching, it is NOT everyone who "tastes" the goddess and power of the Lord that receives eternal life ( being born again ) BUT everyone who eats and drinks from the Lord.

John 4:14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life."

John 6:58 I am the true bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will not die as your ancestors did (even though they ate the manna) but will live forever."

So we find there are two types of partakers, those who "taste" the goodness and power of the Lord but goes back without "eating and drinking" from Him so that they can receive eternal life, and those who tasted the goodness and power of the Lord and proceed to eat and drink from him ( receive Him John 1:12 ).

Those end of those who taste the goodness and power of the Lord but goes back without eating and drinking from Him ( or receive him to obtain eternal life ) is that they will end up in Hell.

Hebrews 6:7-8 For land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God. 8 But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned.

The scripture goes on to say that such people who go back after tasting the Lord's goodness and power were better off if they have not heard the "Gospel of the righteousness of God" at all.

2 Peter 2:21-22 It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life. 22 They prove the truth of this proverb: “A dog returns to its vomit.”[a] And another says, “A washed pig returns to the mud.”

This is because those who have not heard the Gospel are only guilty for their sins but those who hear the Gospel and taste the goodness and power of the Lord and then go back are guilty of rejecting the Son of God ( instead of receiving Him ) which is the greatest sin!

John 3:18-21 “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. 19 And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. 20 All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. 21 But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.[a]”

These people who go back after tasting the goodness and power of the Lord without proceeding to eat and drink from Him and be saved do so because they love darkness more than light. And they get a worse punishment than those who go to hell without hearing the Gospel. This is because there is nothing more for those people to know by what they are saved. Nothing else remains for their salvation. They insult God by calling evil good and good evil.

Isiah 5:20 What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.

Hebrews 10:26-31 Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. 27 There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. 28 For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us. 30 For we know the one who said, “I will take revenge. I will pay them back.”[a] He also said, “The Lord will judge his own people.”[b] 31 It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

This happens because though the people hear the Gospel and the Scriptures they still do not understand what message these things are actually conveying to them. They do not hear the "voice" though they hear the "words". This experience of the people including Jews and their religious leaders are depicted in the book of Acts.

Acts 13:27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

Jesus also warned to the crowd who followed him about such a dangerous condition.

John 6:26 Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you understood the miraculous signs.

A sign in itself is no great thing. Every sign points us to something and the direction of the way to reach it. All the miracles were signs that pointing to salvation through receiving Jesus. In this context ( John 6:1-14 ) the multiplied bread was a sign that said Jesus is able to give us the true bread from heaven which will give us eternal life. But people ate the perishable bread that Jesus gave them and followed him again just to get the perishable bread. They did not understand the sign and follow Him to eat the living bread from heaven which will give them eternal life ( be born again ).

John 6:51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and this bread, which I will offer so the world may live, is my flesh."

This is a common sight in Christian circles especially in the Prosperity gospel and Signs and wonders movements. People make fetishes of the signs ( miracles ) and don't take the way that the sign points to reach the destination pointed by the sign.

The 6th Chapter of Hebrews takes a twist in verses 9 and 10 and says that this will not be the condition of those who are born again by receiving Christ ( eating and drinking from Christ ) and "things that accompany salvation" are the things that born again people will receive.

Hebrews 6:9-11 Dear friends, even though we are talking this way, we really don’t believe it applies to you. We are confident that you are meant for better things, things that come with salvation. 10 For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers,[b] as you still do.

And the scriptures in that chapter goes on to speak of the "strong consolation" that those who have "fled to God for refuge" has because God is NOT free to change His mind because of two things, His promise and also His oath!

ഞാൻ രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുമോ? വരുവാനുള്ള കോപത്തിൽ നിന്നും, എൻന്റെ പാപത്തിൽനിന്നും രക്ഷപ്പെടാൻ ഞാൻ ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ അടുത്ത് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. ക്രിസ്തു എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കുമോ? ഞാൻ ഒരു പക്ഷേ ദൈവം മുൻ നിയമിച്ച തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത ആളല്ലെങ്കിലോ?

യോഹന്നാന്‍ 6 : 44

പിതാവ്‌ എനിക്കു നല്‍കുന്നവരെല്ലാം എന്‍െറ അടുത്തു വരും. എന്‍െറ അടുക്കല്‍ വരുന്നവനെ ഞാന്‍ ഒരിക്കലും തള്ളിക്കളയുകയുമില്ല.

യോഹന്നാന്‍ 6 : 37

പിതാവ് ആകർഷിക്കാതെ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് യേശുവിനെ അടുക്കൽ രക്ഷയ്ക്കായി വരുവാൻ സാധിക്കുകയില്ല.മുൻ നിയമിക്കാത്ത വരെ പിതാവ് രക്ഷയ്ക്കായി ആകർഷിക്കുന്നില്ല. നിങ്ങൾ യേശുവിനെ അടുക്കൽ രക്ഷയ്ക്കായി വന്നെങ്കിൽ ഒരു കാരണവശാലും യേശു നിങ്ങളെ കൈവിടുകയില്ല.

ആകർഷണം എന്ന് പറയുന്ന ആ ആ വാക്കിൻറെ യഥാർത്ഥ അർത്ഥം വലിച്ച് കൊണ്ടുവരിക, നിർബന്ധിക്കുക എന്നൊക്കെയാണ്. നിങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ ഉം നിങ്ങൾ യേശുവിനെ അടുക്കൽ രക്ഷയ്ക്കായി വന്നത് പിതാവ് നിങ്ങളെ അകമേ നിർബന്ധിച്ചത് കൊണ്ടാണ്.

ഒരു കാരണവശാലും എന്ന വാക്കിൻറെ അർത്ഥം ഒരിക്കലും ഒരിക്കലും ഇല്ല എന്നാണ്. അത് രണ്ടുതവണ നമ്മെ ഉറപ്പിക്കുന്നു. നമ്മൾ യേശുവിൻറെ അടുത്ത വന്നെങ്കിൽ അവൻ നമ്മളെ ഒരിക്കലും ഒരിക്കലും കൈവിടുകയില്ല

ഞാൻ രക്ഷയ്ക്കായി യേശുവിൻറെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. യേശു എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കും എന്ന് ഞാൻ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുവാൻ ഞാൻ ഇനി എന്തു ചെയ്യണം?

അപ്രകാരംതന്നെ, കൃപയാല്‍തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട ഒരു അവശിഷ്‌ടഭാഗം ഇക്കാലഘട്ടത്തിലും ഉണ്ട്‌.
അതു കൃപയാ ലാണെങ്കില്‍ പ്രവൃത്തികളില്‍ അധിഷ്‌ഠിത മല്ല. കൃപയാലല്ലെങ്കില്‍ കൃപ ഒരിക്കലും കൃപ ആയിരിക്കുകയില്ല.
റോമാ 11 : 5-6

നിയമം അനുഷ്‌ഠിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ട്‌, ഒരുവനും അവിടുത്തെ സന്നിധിയില്‍ നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെടുകയില്ല. നിയമംവഴി പാപത്തെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ ബോധമുണ്ടാകുന്നുവെന്നേയുള്ളു.

റോമാ 3 : 20

അതുകൊണ്ട്‌, നമ്മുടെ വന്‍പുപറ ച്ചില്‍ എവിടെ? അതിനു സ്‌ഥാനമില്ലാതായിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്തടിസ്‌ഥാനത്തില്‍? പ്രവൃത്തികളുടെ അടിസ്‌ഥാനത്തിലോ? അല്ല, വിശ്വാസത്തിന്‍െറ അടിസ്‌ഥാനത്തില്‍.
എന്തെന്നാല്‍, നിയമാനുഷ്‌ഠാനം കൂടാതെതന്നെ വിശ്വാസത്താല്‍ മനുഷ്യന്‍ നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു എന്നു നാം അനുമാനിക്കുന്നു.

റോമാ 3 : 27-28

അബ്രാഹം പ്രവൃത്തികളാലാണു നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടതെങ്കില്‍ അവന്‌ അഭിമാനത്തിനു വകയുണ്ട്‌ - ദൈവസന്നിധിയിലല്ലെന്നുമാത്രം.

റോമാ 4 : 2

ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നവന്‍െറ കൂലി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നതു ദാനമായിട്ടല്ല, അവകാശമായിട്ടാണ്‌.
പ്രവൃത്തികള്‍ കൂടാതെതന്നെ പാപിയെ നീതീകരിക്കുന്നവനില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്‍െറ വിശ്വാസം നീതിയായി പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
പ്രവൃത്തികള്‍നോക്കാതെതന്നെ നീതിമാനെന്നു ദൈവം പരിഗണിക്കുന്നവന്‍െറ ഭാഗ്യം ദാവീദ്‌ വര്‍ണിക്കുന്നു:

റോമാ 4 : 4-6

എന്നാല്‍, അവര്‍ ജനിക്കുകയോ, നന്‍മയോ തിന്‍മയോ ആയി എന്തെങ്കിലും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നതിനുമുമ്പുതന്നെ അവള്‍ക്ക്‌ ഇപ്രകാരം അറിയിപ്പുണ്ടായി: ജ്യേഷ്‌ഠന്‍ അനുജന്‍െറ സേവ കനായിരിക്കും. ദൈവത്തിന്‍െറ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിന്‍െറ ലക്‌ഷ്യം

റോമാ 9 : 11-12

അപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ ചോദിച്ചു: ദൈവഹിതമനുസരിച്ചു പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നവരാകാന്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ എന്തു ചെയ്യണം?
യേശു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: ഇതാണു ദൈവഹിതമനുസരിച്ചുള്ള പ്രവൃത്തി - അവിടുന്ന്‌ അയച്ചവനില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുക.

യോഹന്നാന്‍ 6 : 28-29

വിശ്വാസംവഴി കൃപയാലാണു നിങ്ങള്‍ രക്‌ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്‌. അതു നിങ്ങള്‍ നേടിയെ ടുത്തതല്ല, ദൈവത്തിന്‍െറ ദാനമാണ്‌.
അതു പ്രവൃത്തികളുടെ ഫലമല്ല. തന്‍മൂലം, ആരും അതില്‍ അഹങ്കരിക്കേണ്ടതില്ല.

എഫേസോസ്‌ 2 : 8-9

എന്തെന്നാല്‍, തന്‍െറ അഭീഷ്‌ടമനുസരിച്ച്‌ ഇച്‌ഛിക്കാനും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കാനും നിങ്ങളെ ഉത്തേജിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു ദൈവമാണ്‌.

നിങ്ങൾ രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഒന്നും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതില്ല.അതുമാത്രമല്ല നിങ്ങൾക്ക് രക്ഷപ്പെടാൻ വേണ്ടി ഒന്നും ചെയ്യാൻ സാധിക്കുകയുമില്ല. നിങ്ങൾ എന്തെങ്കിലും ചെയ്താൽ ഇസ്രയേലിനെ പോലെ ഇടറി വീഴും, രക്ഷാ നഷ്ടപ്പെടും. കാരണം ദൈവം രക്ഷയെ ഒരു ദാനം ആയിട്ടാണ് നൽകുവാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.  നിങ്ങൾ രക്ഷയ്ക്ക് വേണ്ടി ഒരു ചെറിയ കാര്യമെങ്കിലും ചെയ്തു പോയാൽ ദൈവത്തിന് നിങ്ങൾക്ക് രക്ഷ നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്ത പ്രവൃത്തിയുടെ കൂലിയായി നൽകേണ്ടിവരും. അതിൻറെ ക്രെഡിറ്റ് കുറച്ചെങ്കിലും നിങ്ങൾക്ക് കിട്ടും. ദൈവം അത് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല. എല്ലാ മഹത്വവും ദൈവത്തിന് കിട്ടുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടി രക്ഷയുടെ എല്ലാ പ്രവർത്തികളും ദൈവം തന്നെ ചെയ്യുന്നു. നിങ്ങൾ രക്ഷയ്ക്കായി വിശ്വസിച്ചത് പോലും ദൈവം ചെയ്ത ഒരു പ്രവർത്തിയാണ്.രക്ഷയ്ക്കായി വിശ്വസിക്കാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ലഭിച്ച വിശ്വാസം ദൈവം നിങ്ങൾക്ക് തന്ന ഒരു ദാനമാണ്. അല്ലാതെ സുവിശേഷം കേട്ട് നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളിൽ തന്നെ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ ഒരു വിശ്വാസമല്ല. ഇതുകൊണ്ട് സകല മഹത്വവും ദൈവത്തിന് കൊടുക്കുവാൻ നിങ്ങൾ പ്രാപ്തരാകുന്നു.

യാക്കോബിനെ ലേഖനം രക്ഷയെ പറ്റി സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോൾ വിശ്വാസത്തെ പറ്റിയും പ്രവർത്തിയെ പറ്റിയും പറയുന്നുണ്ടല്ലോ? അപ്പോൾ പിന്നെ രക്ഷ വിശ്വാസത്താൽ മാത്രമാണ് എന്ന് എങ്ങനെ പറയും?

യാക്കോബിനെ രണ്ടാമധ്യായം ശ്രദ്ധിച്ച് വായിക്കുക. അത് വിശ്വാസത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും പ്രവർത്തിയെ കുറിച്ചും അല്ല പറയുന്നത്. അത് രണ്ടുതരം വിശ്വാസങ്ങളെ പറ്റിയാണ് പറയുന്നത്. ഒന്ന് ജീവനുള്ള വിശ്വാസം. രണ്ട് ജീവനില്ലാത്ത വിശ്വാസം. ജീവനുള്ള വിശ്വാസത്തിൻറെ കൂടെ പ്രവർത്തികൾ ഉണ്ട്. ജീവനില്ലാത്ത വിശ്വാസത്തിൻറെ കൂടെ പ്രവർത്തികൾ ഇല്ല. രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടും പോൾ നമ്മൾക്ക് ദൈവം തരുന്ന ജീവനുള്ള വിശ്വാസം പ്രവർത്തികൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു. അതിൻറെ ആദ്യത്തെ സൽപ്രവർത്തി നമ്മളെ യേശുവിൽ വിശ്വസിപ്പിച്ച് പാപമോചനത്തിനായി അവൻറെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നതാണ്. ഈ വിശ്വാസം നമ്മിൽ സൽപ്രവർത്തികൾ ഉളവാക്കുന്നു. എന്നാൽ നമ്മൾ തന്നെ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയെടുക്കുന്ന വിശ്വാസത്തിന് സൽപ്രവർത്തികൾ ഉളവാക്കുവാൻ സാധിക്കുന്നില്ല.നമ്മൾ തന്നെ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയെടുക്കുന്ന വിശ്വാസത്തിന് യേശു നമ്മളെ രക്ഷിക്കുമെന്നു പാപം ക്ഷമിക്കുമെന്നു വിശ്വസിക്കാൻ പോലും സാധിക്കുന്നില്ല. എന്നാൽ ദൈവം നമുക്ക് തരുന്ന ജീവനുള്ള വിശ്വാസത്തിന് യേശു പാപം ക്ഷമിച്ചു തരും എന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുവാൻ സാധിക്കുന്നു. അതുമാത്രമല്ല ജീവനുള്ള വിശ്വാസം രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ട അതിനുശേഷവും നമ്മളെ മാനസാന്തരത്തിലേക്ക് നയിക്കുന്നു. നമ്മൾ ഒരു പാപം എത്ര തന്നെ ചെയ്താലും വീണ്ടും യേശു ക്ഷമിക്കും എന്ന് വിശ്വസിച്ച് യേശുവിനെ അടുക്കൽ വന്ന് ആ പാപത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള വിടുതലിനായി വിശ്വസിക്കുവാനും പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുവാനും നമ്മളെ പ്രാപ്തരാക്കുന്നു. ആ ദൈവം തന്ന ജീവനുള്ള വിശ്വാസം നമ്മളിലുള്ള സൽപ്രവർത്തികൾ വർധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. നമ്മൾക്ക് വരുന്ന മാറ്റങ്ങൾ വളരെ പതുക്കെയാണ് എന്ന് തോന്നിയേക്കാം. എന്നാൽ ദൈവം തന്ന ജീവനുള്ള വിശ്വാസം നമ്മളുടെ ശക്തിയാൽ അല്ല അവൻ ശക്തിയാൽ നമ്മളെ സൽപ്രവർത്തികൾ പ്രാപ്തരാക്കുന്നു. ദൈവത്തിന് നുണ പറയാൻ സാധിക്കുകയില്ല.

അപ്പോള്‍ പത്രോസ്‌ മുന്നോട്ടു വന്ന്‌ അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു: കര്‍ത്താവേ, എന്നോടു തെറ്റുചെയ്യുന്ന എന്‍െറ സഹോദരനോടു ഞാന്‍ എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം ക്‌ഷമിക്കണം? ഏഴു പ്രാവശ്യമോ?
യേശു അരുളിച്ചെയ്‌തു: ഏഴെന്നല്ല, ഏഴ്‌എഴുപതു പ്രാവശ്യം എന്നു ഞാന്‍ നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു.

ഞാൻ രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടു എന്നെനിക്കറിയാം എന്നാൽ വിശദീകരണവും രൂപാന്തരവും വളരെ പതുക്കെയാണ്. ഞാൻ ഒരേ ഭാവത്തിൽ തന്നെ തുടർച്ചയായി വീഴുന്നു. ചെയ്യാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യാൻ സാധിക്കുന്നില്ല. ചെയ്യാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കാത്ത കാര്യങ്ങൾ ചെയ്തു പോകുന്നു. രക്ഷയുടെ ഉറപ്പ് എനിക്ക് അനുഭവിക്കുവാനും അതിൽ എനിക്ക് ആശ്വസിക്കാനും സ്വർഗത്തിൽ ചെന്നു ഞാൻ ദൈവത്തെ മുഖം കാണും എന്നും എനിക്ക് വിശ്വസിക്കാമോ?

യേശുവിൻറെ സഭയിലേക്കും കുടുംബത്തിലേക്കും നിങ്ങൾക്ക് സ്വാഗതം. 

ഞാന്‍ നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു: നീ പത്രോസാണ്‌; ഈ പാറമേല്‍ എന്‍െറ സഭ ഞാന്‍ സ്‌ഥാപിക്കും. നരകകവാടങ്ങള്‍ അതിനെതിരേ പ്രബലപ്പെടുകയില്ല.

മത്തായി 16 : 18

അപ്പോസ്തലനായ പൗലോസ് ഒരു സമയത്ത് നിങ്ങൾ സംസാരിച്ചത് പോലെ സംസാരിച്ചതായി നമുക്ക് കാണുവാൻ സാധിക്കുന്നു.

നിയമം ആത്‌മീയമാണെന്നു നാമറിയുന്നു. ഞാന്‍ പാപത്തിന്‌ അടിമയായി വില്‍ക്കപ്പെട്ട ജഡികനാണ്‌.

ഞാന്‍ ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തികള്‍തന്നെ എനിക്കു മനസ്‌സിലാകുന്നില്ല. എന്തെന്നാല്‍, ഞാന്‍ ഇച്‌ഛിക്കുന്നതല്ല, വെറുക്കുന്നതാണു ഞാന്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നത്‌.

ഞാന്‍ ഇ ച്‌ഛിക്കാത്തതു പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നെങ്കില്‍ നിയമം നല്ലതാണെന്നു ഞാന്‍ സമ്മതിക്കുന്നു.

എന്നാല്‍, ഇപ്പോള്‍ അങ്ങനെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നതു ഞാനല്ല, എന്നില്‍ കുടികൊള്ളുന്ന പാപമാണ്‌.

എന്നില്‍, അതായത്‌, എന്‍െറ ശരീരത്തില്‍, നന്‍മ വസിക്കുന്നില്ലെന്നു ഞാനറിയുന്നു. നന്‍മ ഇച്‌ഛിക്കാന്‍ എനിക്കു സാധിക്കും; എന്നാല്‍, പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കാന്‍ സാധിക്കുന്നില്ല.

ഞാന്‍ ഇച്‌ഛിക്കാത്തതു ഞാന്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍, അതു ചെയ്യുന്നത്‌ ഒരിക്കലും ഞാനല്ല, എന്നില്‍ വസിക്കുന്ന പാപമാണ്‌.

അങ്ങനെ, നന്‍മ ചെയ്യാനാഗ്ര ഹിക്കുന്ന എന്നില്‍ത്തന്നെതിന്‍മയുണ്ട്‌ എന്നൊരു തത്വം ഞാന്‍ കാണുന്നു.

എന്‍െറ അന്തരംഗത്തില്‍ ഞാന്‍ ദൈവത്തിന്‍െറ നിയമമോര്‍ത്ത്‌ ആഹ്ലാദിക്കുന്നു.

എന്‍െറ അവയവങ്ങളിലാകട്ടെ, എന്‍െറ മനസ്‌സിന്‍െറ നിയമത്തോടു പോരാടുന്ന വേറൊരു നിയമം ഞാന്‍ കാണുന്നു. അത്‌ എന്‍െറ അവയവങ്ങളിലുള്ള പാപത്തിന്‍െറ നിയമത്തിന്‌ എന്നെ അടിമപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.

ഞാന്‍ ദുര്‍ഭഗനായ മനുഷ്യന്‍! മരണത്തിന്‌ അധീനമായ ഈ ശരീരത്തില്‍നിന്ന്‌ എന്നെ ആരു മോചിപ്പിക്കും?

നമ്മുടെ കര്‍ത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്‌തുവഴി ദൈവത്തിനു സ്‌തോത്രം! ചുരുക്കത്തില്‍, ഞാന്‍ എന്‍െറ മനസ്‌സുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവത്തിന്‍െറ നിയമത്തെ സേവിക്കുന്നു; എന്‍െറ ശരീരംകൊണ്ടു പാപത്തിന്‍െറ നിയമത്തെയും.

റോമാ 7 : 14-25

നിങ്ങൾ ക്രിസ്തുവിൽ ഒരു ശിശുവാണ് നിങ്ങൾക്ക് രക്ഷയുടെ പൂർണ്ണ ഉറപ്പും സന്തോഷവും സമാധാനവും ആശ്വാസവും ആവശ്യമാണ്.

എന്‍െറ കുഞ്ഞുമക്കളേ, നിങ്ങള്‍ പാപം ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിനാണ്‌ ഞാന്‍ ഇവ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കെഴുതുന്നത്‌. എന്നാല്‍, ആരെങ്കിലും പാപം ചെയ്യാനിടയായാല്‍ത്തന്നെ പിതാവിന്‍െറ സന്നിധിയില്‍ നമുക്ക്‌ ഒരു മധ്യസ്‌ഥനുണ്ട്‌ > നീതിമാനായ യേശുക്രിസ്‌തു.

മാറ്റമില്ലാത്തതും ദൈവത്തെ സംബന്‌ധിച്ചു വ്യാജമാകാത്തതുമായ ഈ രണ്ടു കാര്യങ്ങളിലൂടെ നമ്മുടെ മുന്‍പില്‍ വയ്‌ക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന പ്രത്യാശയെ മുറുകെപ്പിടിക്കുന്നതിനുയത്‌നിക്കുന്ന നമുക്കു വലിയ പ്രാത്‌സാഹനം ലഭിക്കുന്നു.

ഹെബ്രായര്‍ 6 : 18

പ്രോത്സാഹനം എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന ആ വാക്കിൻറെ അർത്ഥം നവോന്മേഷം തരുന്ന ആശ്വാസം ആശ്വാസം എന്നാണ്. അതിന് മുൻപ് ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന വലിയ എന്ന വാക്കിൻറെ അർത്ഥം അതിശക്തമായ എന്നാണ്. രക്ഷയ്ക്കായി നമ്മൾ ക്രിസ്തുവിൻറെ അടുക്കലേക്ക് ഓടി ചെല്ലുമ്പോൾ നമുക്ക് ശക്തമായ നവോന്മേഷം തരുന്ന ആശ്വാസം ലഭിക്കുവാനാണ് ഇത് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഇതിൻറെ കാരണം അതിനു മുൻപുള്ള വചനത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

മനുഷ്യര്‍ തങ്ങളെക്കാള്‍ വലിയവനെക്കൊണ്ടാണല്ലോ ശപഥം ചെയ്യുന്നത്‌. ശപഥ മാണ്‌ അവരുടെ എല്ലാ തര്‍ക്കങ്ങളും തീരുമാനിക്കുന്നതില്‍ അവസാനവാക്ക്‌.

ദൈവം തന്‍െറ തീരുമാനത്തിന്‍െറ അചഞ്ചലത വാഗ്‌ദാനത്തിന്‍െറ അവകാശികള്‍ക്കു കൂടുതല്‍ വ്യക്‌തമാക്കിക്കൊടുക്കാന്‍ നിശ്‌ചയിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ ഒരു ശപഥത്താല്‍ ഈ തീരുമാനം ഉറപ്പിച്ചു.

ഹെബ്രായര്‍ 6 : 16-17

ദൈവം നമ്മളുടെ രക്ഷയുടെ ഉറപ്പ് നമ്മൾ അനുഭവിക്കുന്നതിനായി ഒരു ശപഥം ചെയ്തു. ദൈവം ശപഥം ചെയ്യുക എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞാൽ അത് ഒരു ഭയങ്കര കാര്യമാണ്. കാരണം യേശു നമ്മളോട് ശപഥം ചെയ്യരുത് എന്ന് മത്തായി 5:33-37 വാക്യങ്ങളിൽ പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. അതിൻറെ കാരണമായി പറയുന്നത്. കാര്യങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞതിനുശേഷം ഉള്ള സത്യം ചെയ്യൽ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് സത്യം ചെയ്യാത്ത പോൾ നമ്മൾ ചിലപ്പോൾ കളവ് പറഞ്ഞേക്കാം എന്നാണ്. നുണ പറയുവാൻ കഴിയാത്ത ദൈവം തന്നെ തന്നെ താഴ്ത്തി വാഗ്ദത്തം തരിക മാത്രമല്ല അത് ഒരു സത്യം ചെയ്യലിൽ കൂടെ ഉറപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. നമ്മളോടുള്ള അതി വലുതായ സ്നേഹം നിമിത്തം നമ്മൾ രക്ഷയുടെ പൂർണ്ണ ഉറപ്പും സന്തോഷവും ആശ്വാസവും അനുഭവിക്കുവാൻ വേണ്ടിയാണ് ദൈവം തന്നെത്തന്നെ അങ്ങനെ താഴ്ത്തിയത്. അതുകൊണ്ട് നമ്മൾ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലെത്തി ദൈവത്തിൻറെ മുഖം കാണും എന്ന് നമുക്ക് ഉറപ്പിക്കാം

നിങ്ങളില്‍ ഓരോരുത്തരും നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രത്യാശയുടെ പൂര്‍ത്തീകരണത്തിനായി അവസാനംവരെ ഇതേ ഉത്‌സാഹം തന്നെ കാണിക്കണമെന്നു ഞങ്ങള്‍ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.

ഹെബ്രായര്‍ 6 : 11

ദൈവഭവനത്തിന്‍െറ മേല്‍നോട്ടക്കാരനായി നമുക്കൊരു മഹാപുരോഹിതനുണ്ട്‌.

അതിനാല്‍, വിശ്വാസത്തിന്‍െറ ഉറപ്പുള്ള സത്യഹൃദയത്തോടെ നമുക്ക്‌ അടുത്തുചെല്ലാം. ഇതിന്‌ ദുഷ്‌ടമനഃസാക്‌ഷിയില്‍നിന്നു നമ്മുടെ ഹൃദയത്തെ വെടിപ്പാക്കുകയും ശരീരം ശുദ്‌ധജലത്താല്‍ കഴുകുകയും വേണം.

When Israel left Egypt they were traveling to the land God promised them and their destination was the land of Cannan where they will receive rest. When we are born again, though still physically in it, we spiritually leave the world and don't belong to the world anymore.

The destination of our spiritual journey is to reach the Father and be like Him, and the way we take is Christ. It is by being increasingly conformed to the image of Christ that we reach fully to the restoration into the image of God. Then we will know God completely not only from outside but also inwardly in us and we will enjoy eternal life completely. Only then we will know the complete rest as God experiences it.

John 14:6

In this spiritual journey, God designs and arranges our future, surroundings, circumstances, trials, temptations, success, failures, encouragements, people, wealth and everything else associated with our lives perfectly so that we are changed by their help into the image of Christ. 

So we really do not know what we need to make us like Christ. Our normal prayers are mostly directed to the building of our outer man ( soul & body ) like for food, clothing, job, status, peaceful state & surroundings, good friends etc. Only God knows what we need in this life to make us like Christ and so the Holy Spirit intercedes for us and helps us when our knowledge of this world & future and need is incomplete by always keeping our destination in view. Nobody prays for an enemy but when it is God's plan to teach us to love our enemies God will bring enemies before us. 

God arranges this world perfectly for his elect to grow and develop into the full maturity of Christ and be restored to the image of God through the intercession of the Holy Spirit. It is because of this intercession of the Holy Spirit for the elect that all things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose.

So we can rejoice in our problems and trials due to the intercession of the Holy Spirit because they do not harm us but are in fact helpful to develop endurance and character in us and increase in us our hope of salvation.

Romans 5:3-5 New Living Translation (NLT)

3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. The word retain has the following meaning.

to have (hold) in the hand, in the sense of wearing, to have (hold) possession of the mind ( G2192 )

and the word knowledge means precise knowledge ( G1922 )

Thus the downward spiral into sin was caused because they did not "retain God" in "precise knowledge" or in other words they did not like to "wear God" in "precise knowledge". What we wear is what is seen outside about us. So we find that those who fall in the downward spiral into sin did not like to possess in their mind the "precise knowledge" of God in such a way that it affected their actions.

യോഹന്നാന്‍ 17 : 14-18

ഈ ലോകം വിട്ടിട്ടുള്ള നമ്മുടെ ആത്മീയ യാത്രയുടെ അവസാനം അഥവാ ലക്ഷ്യം പിതാവായ ദൈവമാണ്. പിതാവിനെപ്പോലെ ആകുക എന്നതാണ്. പിതാവിനെ പോലെ ആകുവാനുള്ള വഴി ക്രിസ്തുവാണ്. നമ്മൾ ആത്മീയമായി വളർന്ന് ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ സാദൃശ്യത്തിൽ പൂർണമായി എത്തുമ്പോഴാണ് നമ്മൾ പിതാവിനെ പോലെ ആയി തീരുന്നത്. അപ്പോഴാണ് പാപത്താൽ നമ്മളിൽ തകർന്നുപോയ ദൈവത്തിൻറെ രൂപം വീണ്ടും യഥാസ്ഥാനപെടുന്നത്. അപ്പോൾ നമ്മൾ ദൈവത്തെ പുറമേ നിന്നു മാത്രമല്ല അമ്മേ നമ്മളിൽ കൂടി നന്നായി അറിയുന്നവർ ആയി മാറും. നമുക്ക് നിത്യജീവൻ പൂർണ്ണമായി ആസ്വദിക്കാൻ സാധിക്കും. അപ്പോഴാണ് നമുക്ക് ദൈവം തരുന്ന പൂർണമായ വിശ്രമം അനുഭവിക്കുവാൻ സാധിക്കുന്നത്.

നമ്മളെ ക്രിസ്തുവിനെപ്പോലെ ആക്കുവാൻ നമുക്ക് എന്താണ് ആവശ്യം എന്ന് നമ്മൾ വ്യക്തമായി അറിയുന്നില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ എന്തിനു വേണ്ടി പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കണമെന്ന് നാം അറിയുന്നില്ല.

Instances of disciples being filled with the Holy Spirit in Acts of the Apostles

1. On the day of Pentecost

Acts 2:1-4 New Living Translation (NLT)

On the day of Pentecost[a] all the believers were meeting together in one place.2 Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. 3 Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. 4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages,[b] as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.

2. When the disciples were brought before authorities

7 They brought in the two disciples and demanded, “By what power, or in whose name, have you done this?”

8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of our people,9 are we being questioned today because we’ve done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed?10 Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene,[a] the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.

3. When threats and persecution arose

5. For God's judgment on Satan's servants

8 But Elymas, the sorcerer (as his name means in Greek), interfered and urged the governor to pay no attention to what Barnabas and Saul said. He was trying to keep the governor from believing.

9 Saul, also known as Paul, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and he looked the sorcerer in the eye. 10 Then he said, “You son of the devil, full of every sort of deceit and fraud, and enemy of all that is good! Will you never stop perverting the true ways of the Lord?11 Watch now, for the Lord has laid his hand of punishment upon you, and you will be struck blind. You will not see the sunlight for some time.” Instantly mist and darkness came over the man’s eyes, and he began groping around begging for someone to take his hand and lead him.12 When the governor saw what had happened, he became a believer, for he was astonished at the teaching about the Lord.

6. When disciples were opposed, rejected and persecuted

50 Then the Jews stirred up the influential religious women and the leaders of the city, and they incited a mob against Paul and Barnabas and ran them out of town. 51 So they shook the dust from their feet as a sign of rejection and went to the town of Iconium. 52 And the believers[a] were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

പന്തക്കുസ്‌താദിനം സമാഗതമായപ്പോള്‍ അവരെല്ലാവരും ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടിയിരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
കൊടുങ്കാറ്റടിക്കുന്നതുപോലുള്ള ഒരു ശബ്‌ദം പെട്ടെന്ന്‌ ആകാശത്തുനിന്നുണ്ടായി. അത്‌ അവര്‍ സമ്മേളിച്ചിരുന്ന വീടുമുഴുവന്‍ നിറഞ്ഞു.
അഗ്‌നിജ്വാലകള്‍പോലുള്ള നാവുകള്‍ തങ്ങളോരോരുത്തരുടെയുംമേല്‍ വന്നു നില്‍ക്കുന്നതായി അവര്‍ കണ്ടു.
അവരെല്ലാവരും പരിശുദ്‌ധാത്‌മാവിനാല്‍ നിറഞ്ഞു. ആത്‌മാവുകൊടുത്ത ഭാഷണവരമനുസരിച്ച്‌ അവര്‍ വിവിധ ഭാഷകളില്‍ സംസാരിക്കാന്‍ തുടങ്ങി.

2. ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ അധികാരികളുടെ മുന്നിൽ കൊണ്ടു വന്നപ്പോൾ

അപ്പസ്‌തോലന്‍മാരെ അവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ മധ്യത്തില്‍ നിര്‍ത്തി ഇങ്ങനെ ചോദിച്ചു: എന്തധികാരത്താലാണ്‌, അഥവാ ആരുടെ നാമത്തിലാണ്‌ നിങ്ങള്‍ ഇതു പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചത്‌?
അപ്പോള്‍ പരിശുദ്‌ധാത്‌മാവിനാല്‍ നിറഞ്ഞ്‌ പത്രോസ്‌ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു:
ഭരണാധികാരികളേ, ജനപ്രമാണികളേ, ഒരു രോഗിക്കു ഞങ്ങള്‍ ചെയ്‌ത ഒരു സത്‌പ്രവൃത്തിയെക്കുറിച്ചാണ്‌, എന്തു മാര്‍ഗങ്ങളുപയോഗിച്ചു ഞങ്ങള്‍ ആ മനുഷ്യനെ സുഖപ്പെടുത്തിയെന്നതിനെക്കുറിച്ചാണ്‌, ഞങ്ങള്‍ ഇന്നു വിചാരണ ചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്നതെങ്കില്‍,

3. ഭീഷണികളും പീഡനങ്ങളും വന്നപ്പോൾ

അതിനാല്‍, കര്‍ത്താവേ, അവരുടെ ഭീഷണികളെ അവിടുന്നു ശ്രദ്‌ധിക്കണമേ.
അവിടുത്തെ പരിശുദ്‌ധദാസ നായ യേശുവിന്‍െറ നാമത്തില്‍ രോഗശാന്തിയും അടയാളങ്ങളും അദ്‌ഭുതങ്ങളും സംഭവിക്കുന്നതിനായി അവിടുത്തെ കൈകള്‍ നീട്ടണമേ. അവിടുത്തെ വചനം പൂര്‍ണധൈ ര്യത്തോടെ പ്രസംഗിക്കാന്‍ ഈ ദാസരെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കണമേ.
പ്രാര്‍ഥന കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ സമ്മേളിച്ചിരുന്ന സ്‌ഥലം കുലുങ്ങി. അവരെല്ലാവരും പരിശുദ്‌ധാത്‌മാവിനാല്‍ പൂരിതരായി ദൈവവചനം ധൈര്യപൂര്‍വം പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.

4. ദൈവത്തിൻറെ ശിക്ഷണത്തിനു ശേഷം

അനനിയാസ്‌ ചെന്ന്‌ ആ ഭവനത്തില്‍ പ്രവേശിച്ച്‌ അവന്‍െറ മേല്‍ കൈകള്‍വച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞു: സഹോദരനായ സാവൂള്‍, മാര്‍ഗമധ്യേ നിനക്കു പ്രത്യക്‌ഷപ്പെട്ട കര്‍ത്താവായ യേശു, നിനക്കു വീണ്ടും കാഴ്‌ച ലഭിക്കുന്നതിനും നീ പരിശുദ്‌ധാത്‌മാവിനാല്‍ നിറയുന്നതിനുംവേണ്ടി എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
ഉടന്‍തന്നെ ചെതുമ്പലുപോലെ എന്തോ ഒന്ന്‌ അവന്‍െറ കണ്ണുകളില്‍നിന്ന്‌ അടര്‍ന്നുവീഴുകയും അവനു കാഴ്‌ച തിരിച്ചുകിട്ടുകയും ചെയ്‌തു. അവന്‍ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ജ്‌ഞാനസ്‌നാനം സ്വീകരിച്ചു.
അനന്തരം, അവന്‍ ഭക്‌ഷണം കഴിച്ചു ശക്‌തിപ്രാപിക്കുകയും ദമാസ്‌ക്കസിലെ ശിഷ്യന്‍മാരോടുകൂടെ കുറെ ദിവസം താമസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തു.
അധികം താമസിയാതെ, യേശു ദൈവപുത്രനാണെന്ന്‌ അവന്‍ സിനഗോഗുകളില്‍ പ്രഘോഷിക്കാന്‍ തുടങ്ങി.

5. ദൈവത്തിൻറെ ന്യായവിധി സാത്താൻ ദാസന്മാർക്ക് വേണ്ടി പ്രസ്താവിക്കുവാൻ.

എന്നാല്‍, മാന്ത്രികനായ എലിമാസ്‌ - മാന്ത്രികന്‍ എന്നാണ്‌ ഈ പേരിന്‍െറ അര്‍ഥം - വിശ്വാസത്തില്‍നിന്ന്‌ ഉപസ്‌ഥാനപതിയെ വ്യതിചലിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ ശ്രമിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്‌ അവരെ തടഞ്ഞു.
പൗലോസ്‌ എന്നുകൂടിപേരുണ്ടായിരുന്ന സാവൂളാകട്ടെ, പരിശുദ്‌ധാത്‌മാവിനാല്‍ നിറഞ്ഞ്‌ അവന്‍െറ നേരേ സൂക്‌ഷിച്ചുനോക്കി
പറഞ്ഞു: സാത്താന്‍െറ സന്താനമേ, സകല നീതിക്കും എതിരായവനേ, ദുഷ്‌ട തയും വഞ്ചനയും നിറഞ്ഞവനേ, ദൈവത്തിന്‍െറ നേര്‍വഴികള്‍ ദുഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നതില്‍ നിന്നു വിരമിക്കയില്ലേ?
ഇതാ കര്‍ത്താവിന്‍െറ കരം ഇപ്പോള്‍ നിന്‍െറ മേല്‍ പതിക്കും. നീ അന്‌ധനായിത്തീരും; കുറെക്കാലത്തേക്ക്‌ സൂര്യനെ ദര്‍ശിക്കാന്‍ നിനക്കു സാധിക്കുകയില്ല. ഉടന്‍തന്നെ മൂടലും അന്‌ധകാരവും അവനെ ആവരണം ചെയ്‌തു. തന്നെ കൈയ്‌ക്കു പിടിച്ചു നയിക്കാന്‍ അവന്‍ ആളുകളെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു ചുറ്റിത്തിരിഞ്ഞു.
ഈ സംഭവം കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ ഉപസ്‌ഥാനപതി കര്‍ത്താവിന്‍െറ പ്രബോധനത്തെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ അദ്‌ഭുതപ്പെടുകയും വിശ്വാസം സ്വീകരിക്കുകയുംചെയ്‌തു.

6. സുവിശേഷം പ്രസ്താവിച്ച വിശ്വാസികളെ തിരസ്കരിക്കുകയും ഉപദ്രവിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തപ്പോൾ

എന്നാല്‍, യഹൂദന്‍മാര്‍ ബഹുമാന്യരായ ഭക്‌തസ്‌ത്രീകളെയും നഗരത്തിലെ പ്രമാണികളെയും പ്രരിപ്പിച്ച്‌ പൗലോസിനും ബാര്‍ണബാസിനുമെതിരായി പീഡനം ഇളക്കിവിടുകയും അവരെ ആ നാട്ടില്‍നിന്ന്‌ പുറത്താക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തു.
അവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ പാദങ്ങളിലെ പൊടി അവര്‍ക്കെതിരായി തട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞിട്ട്‌ ഇക്കോണിയത്തിലേക്കു പോയി.
ശിഷ്യന്‍മാര്‍ ആ നന്‌ദത്താലും പരിശുദ്‌ധാത്‌മാവിനാലും നിറഞ്ഞവരായി.

Study Portion: 3 Groanings

1. Groaning of all creation. Romans 8:22  For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.
2. Groaning of the regenerate. Romans 8:23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 2 Corinthians 5:2  Indeed, we groan in this body, desiring to put on our dwelling from heaven. 2 Corinthians 5:4  While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it's not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life.
3. Groaning of the Holy Spirit in the regenerate. Romans 8:26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

The need for groaning and the reason for its lack.

The proof that we have the Spirit of Christ is that there will be a groaning in us to experience our redemption from sin completely, by being transformed into the likeness of Christ, where our soul will be transformed to the character of Christ during our daily walk in this world and we will receive a new body when Christ returns.

The intellectual correctness of doctrine alone is not enough for living a spiritual life.

For this groaning to be present we need to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. Sadly most professing believers do not experience such a groaning but groan for the things of the present world where sin dwells and which is in the control of the devil due to the lack of continuous filling of the Holy Spirit.

1 John 5:19 We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the control of the evil one.

Even sadder is the fact that such ministries that will make the people look to Christ and the future world which the apostles talked about do not function in most churches.

Hebrews 2:5 And furthermore, it is not angels who will control the future world we are talking about.

So let us pray and ask out Lord to fill us with the Holy Spirit and let us experience continual filling. 

Luke 11:13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” 

Acts 13:52 And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

Ephessians 5:18 Stop getting drunk with wine, which leads to wild living, but keep on being filled with the Spirit.

The dangers of prophecy about earthly things.


The primary aim of prophecy is to testify about Jesus.


Revelation 19:10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, "No, don't worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus."

The goal of prophetic ministry is to take our eyes away from the world and make us look at Jesus and to help us derive our joy, satisfaction, peace, security, contentment & everything else from Him. The prophetic ministry exists in the new testament church to confirm us to the fullness of Christ.

Ephesians 4:11-16 New Living Translation (NLT)


11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

Sadly much of the so-called prophetic ministry we see in the church today is about getting directions for our living from the prophet and the prediction about earthly comforts and benefits that we will get in future. First and foremost, the prophecies of getting direction from the Lord existed under the old covenant because only the prophet had the Holy Spirit and not the people. In the church, we are under the new covenant and every born-again person has the Holy Spirit indwelling in him/her. So now we don't need to seek a prophet or a so-called man of God with gifts to get directions, rather we are able to receive directions from God. God's plan in the new covenant was to talk directly to each of his sons and daughters.

Hebrews 8:11 And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.

The need for a middleman to give directions arise because the child of God lacks communion with the Holy Spirit. Persisting on the help of middlemen to get help from God and not allowing the Holy Spirit to direct your life is stiffneckedness.

Acts 7:51 "You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? That's what your ancestors did, and so do you!

We are quick to condemn Catholics for bringing the middle person of Mary between believers and God but we commit the same mistake while we continually seek prophets to give directions in life.

Romans 2:1-3 New Living Translation (NLT)

You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things. 2 And we know that God, in his justice, will punish anyone who does such things. 3 Since you judge others for doing these things, why do you think you can avoid God’s judgment when you do the same things?

Secondly, the earthly blessings that are prophecied to us can only be experienced if we live long enough. So these kinds of ministries usually give us a love towards our own life and the world rather than making us look towards Christ.

Luke 14:26 If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.

Revelation 12:11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.

We should discern between prophets who make us look to Christ and so-called prophets who attach us to the cares of this lives and make the day of the Lord come on us suddenly like a trap.

Luke 21:34 “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.

Because such ministers and prophets who tie us down to earthly cares are ministers of satan whom he has sent into the church to deceive people.

2 Corinthians 11:12-15 New Living Translation (NLT)

But I will continue doing what I have always done. This will undercut those who are looking for an opportunity to boast that their work is just like ours. 13 These people are false apostles. They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.15 So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. In the end they will get the punishment their wicked deeds deserve.

The lack of proper gospel preaching and mention about the righteousness of God.

Much of the Gospel preaching today does not speak about the righteousness of God. It does not evoke a true sense of sinfulness in man and therefore a need for repentance from sin and faith in God is not properly understood. Repentance from sin and faith in God goes hand in hand. One cannot exist without the other.

Mark 1:14-15  Later on, after John was arrested, Jesus went into Galilee, where he preached God’s Good News. 15 “The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”

In order to repent from sin one should know what is God's standard of righteousness that He demand's from man. We should see Christ and the unattainable standard He has set before us. Only then we would see our helplessness to achieve that standard and be broken and approach God to do his work in us and through us . Otherwise like the Israelites, we will presumptuously say "We will do everything the LORD has commanded" and turn to the law to save ourselves instead of turning to Christ to save us from our sins.

Exodus 19:8 And all the people responded together, "We will do everything the LORD has commanded." So Moses brought the people's answer back to the LORD.

And we know that when Israelites shew this presumptuous confidence God gave them His Law and thereafter bible is a record of their sinfulness, wretchedness, failures, and inability to fulfill God's standard. What was the problem? The scriptures say

Romans 9:30-33 New Living Translation (NLT)

Even though the Gentiles were not trying to follow God’s standards, they were made right with God. And it was by faith that this took place.31 But the people of Israel, who tried so hard to get right with God by keeping the law, never succeeded. 32 Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law instead of by trusting in him. They stumbled over the great rock in their path. 33 God warned them of this in the Scriptures when he said,

“I am placing a stone in Jerusalem that makes people stumble,
a rock that makes them fall.
But anyone who trusts in him
will never be disgraced.”

Only when we understand our sinful condition and the unattainable standard of God we will truly appreciate the fact that God gives us a right standing with Him through Faith. Only then we will go through the sanctification process through Faith in Christ to become like Him. Otherwise, we will either try to achieve this standard through working according to certain laws and when we fail we will come to a conclusion that this standard cannot be attained by man and we will not be concerned about sanctification. To convict a person about God's righteousness the Holy Spirit should work in the listeners when the Gospel is proclaimed to them.

John 16:5-11 New Living Translation (NLT)

“But now I am going away to the one who sent me, and not one of you is asking where I am going. 6 Instead, you grieve because of what I’ve told you. 7 But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate[a] won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you. 8 And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment. 9 The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me. 10 Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more. 11 Judgment will come because the ruler of this world has already been judged.

Moreover, people who are born again after being broken by the sight of the unattainable standard of God's righteousness will be further led by the Holy Spirit into ALL Truth. They will have an inclination to truth and the heavenly things in the gospel. They won't have to be pampered with the things of the earth ( toys of dust ) or worldly entertainments or other exciting things and techniques to follow Christ.

John 16:12-15 New Living Translation (NLT)

“There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. 14 He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.’

We can also be sure that God himself is committed to the spiritual progress of such individuals led by the Holy Spirit.

Philippians 1:6 New Living Translation (NLT)

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Others who are not led by the Holy Spirit will soon turn to moral laws and good ethics and civilized behavior to better their lives instead of continuing with Christ and be like him. This danger exists for the true believer also like in the Galatian church ( depicted by the turning away of Christian from the narrow way to Mr. Legality and Mr. Civility in John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress ) but this danger overtakes the ones who are not truly born again and not led by the Spirit.

Galatians 3:1-5 New Living Translation (NLT)

Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you? For the meaning of Jesus Christ’s death was made as clear to you as if you had seen a picture of his death on the cross. 2 Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ. 3 How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort? 4 Have you experienced so much for nothing? Surely it was not in vain, was it?

5 I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.

Those who are led by the Holy Spirit and shown Christ will receive the blessing of chastisement ( child training ) since they are the children of God. Others do not receive this chastisement and think they are in the right way because they face no problems in life and also mock and persecute the true believers who go through these chastisement periods.
