Summary -5 12th October 2018 night

Study portion: Romans 8:16 onward

1. We are co-heirs of Christ. The inheritance that God gives us is not for us to enjoy independently. It is a co-inheritance. It is shared with Christ and God's people.

2. Difference between "earth and its fullness" & "world and its glory". "Earth and its fullness" refers to the physical creation of God whereas "world and its glory" refers to the system that Satan/world has put in place which ascribes glory to certain aspects. Eg: To be rich is considered to be glorious that be poor, higher education is considered more glorious, white skin is considered more glorious than dark skin. God does not care about the standards of glory the world ascribes. Before him, we are all naked Hebrews 4:13 "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable"

3. We need to suffer with Christ in order to be glorified with Him. But this suffering in embraced joyfully since we have sighted our glory. Hebrew 12:2 "We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, despising its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne." A follower of Christ embraces suffering or suffers loss in this world because he has sighted a greater gain. So he does it gladly and he has nothing to boast about. Mathew 13:44 "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field." Romans 8:18 "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us."

4. The present creation is subject to the bondage of decay. If we hold on to the present creation we will share in its decay rather than sharing in Christ's glory. Romans 8:20,21

5. We serve mammon, the money god, by worrying about daily needs. God can save us from serving mammon by making us realize and believe in the Fatherly love of God who cares even for the sparrows. Mathew 6:24-34
